Mr. Christopher Drew is a 3rd Degree Black Belt (III Dan), certified teacher, and founder of Nova Taekwon-Do. With a background in both education and martial arts, he brings a thoughtful, encouraging, and structured approach to every class.
He began training in 2016 alongside his wife, Meg, and their three children—Simeon, Ariella, and Asher. What started as a way to stay active as a family quickly turned into a personal passion. Mr. Drew earned his I Dan in 2020 and his II Dan in 2022 under Mr. Devin Boudreau, V Dan ICTF and world champion. Their training lineage includes Master Rob LeBlanc and Dr. Grandmaster Cariati, IX Dan—a direct student of General Choi Hong-Hi, the founder of Taekwon-Do. In 2024, Mr. Drew proudly achieved his III Dan under Master LeBlanc, VIII Dan ICTF.
From early on, he didn’t expect to progress far expecting one of the jr. belts to be his highest achievement. After he earned his green belt he decided it just might be possible to earn a black belt. He began with the modest goal of reaching his 1st Dan before he turned 40. Not only did he achieve that, he earned his II Dan before 40. He also discovered a love for teaching Taekwon-Do and helping students overcome their own challenges, whether that’s learning a new pattern, building fitness, or developing focus and confidence.
Mr. Drew holds a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Anthropology (MSVU), a Master of Divinity (Acadia University), and a Bachelor of Education (Crandall University). He now works as a certified teacher and brings his experience in both education and martial arts into the dojang.
Known for his humility and sense of humour, Mr. Drew creates a positive space where students of all ages and levels feel welcome, challenged, and supported.
Simeon Drew has been training in Taekwon-Do for over nine years—more than half his life—and brings a powerful combination of experience, energy, and heart to every class. At just 16 years old, he already holds a 2nd Degree Black Belt and has proudly represented his team on the world stage, earning bronze medals in both Sparring and Patterns at the 2025 Toronto World Championships.
But Simeon isn’t just a competitor—he’s a passionate teacher. With several years of experience working with students of all ages, he has a natural gift for connecting with kids, keeping classes fun while maintaining focus and respect. His strong leadership skills and calm presence help students feel both supported and challenged as they learn and grow.
Simeon is especially excited to help build Nova Taekwon-Do from the ground up, training the next generation of martial artists (and maybe even a few future ninjas!) here in Okotoks.
